Students looking for money to pay for college in fall 2008 have until April 1 to apply for a Hinds Community College Development Foundation scholarship.

The Hinds Community College Development Foundation manages more than 250 scholarship funds. The foundation will award approximately 400 student scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,660 for the 2008-09 school year.

Application Forms
The application process is easy. Students can access a form for all Hinds scholarships here.

Requirements
For a Development Foundation scholarship, a student needs three letters of reference, a high school or college transcript, ACT scores, a list of achievements and a letter explaining why he or she should receive a Development Foundation Scholarship. Unlike an ACT scholarship, most Development Foundation scholarships do not require a minimum ACT score.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a student's desire for achievement, involvement in extracurricular activities, financial need, grades, test scores and letters of recommendation.

Students may contact :

Heather Curtis,
Hinds Community College In-House Recruiter/Scholarship Coordinator, Telephone 601.857.3792
(for information related to applying for scholarships as well as financial aid available throughout the college.)

Persons interested in providing scholarships may contact :

Betty Caraway,
Donor Relations Coordinator for the Development Foundation, Telephone 601.857.3800.

The money for the more than 400 special Development Foundation scholarships annually is provided through fund-raisers, such as the annual Golf Fun Fest and Ultimate Game dinner, and donations from alumni, Hinds employees and corporate sponsors.

Packets should be submitted by April 1, to :

The Student Recruiting Office,
